Ask any car lover, and they’ll tell you the Porsche 911 is a work of art, but one man has taken this to a whole new level and is carving life-sized parts out of marble.
Porsche introduced the iconic 911 in 1964, and it’s now in its eighth generation.
Since its introduction, Porsche has built more than one million 911s.
But none of them are quite like this marble version from artist Casper Braat.

The marble pieces of the Porsche 911 include a life-size flat-six
Artist Casper Braat works with marble and creates incredible, life-like pieces.
One of his recent works involved carefully carving large slabs of marble into Porsche 911 parts, from the flat-six engine to the front bumper.

A closer look at the pieces reveals the impressive level of detail Braat has put into each part, including to-scale engine belts and the word Porsche written across the engine cover.
If it weren’t for the fact that the pieces are so clearly made from streaked marble, it would be almost impossible to tell them apart from the real deal.
On his website, Braat explained that the ‘ambitious project’ would be ‘near-impossible to complete’ and as a result, the focus is on the process of making the pieces rather than the finished product.
But that’s not to say he hasn’t already accumulated a wide range of parts and pieces.
In the collection, you’ll find a life-sized marble version of the engine block, tailgate, Fuchs wheel, door, front bumper, and more.
The artist says the value we place on high-end ‘status symbol’ cars, like the 911, is a reflection of society’s emphasis on wealth.

But that stripping it down into parts, he wants people to consider at which point they ‘begin to attain status’.
“The dismantled car’s individual components are disintegrated and non-functional on their own, and the status relating to the completed car transitions to a new form – the everyday,” his website explains.
He’s not the first artist to carve a life-sized car
Braat isn’t the first artist we’ve seen who has painstakingly crafted a life-sized model of a car.
Belgian artist and furniture designer Olivier De Schrijver hand-carved this life-like Ford GT entirely out of wood.

The 1:1 scale model features doors that actually open, wooden bucket seats, and a Ford badge across the hood.
Meanwhile, carpenter and YouTuber ND Woodworking Art has built an entire fleet of wooden vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, a Ferrari GTA 250, and a Tesla Cybertruck.
