A Colorado movie car museum is closing up shop and its collection is heading to auction.

Rodz and Bodz, known for its mix of screen-used rides and replicas, is clearing out 463 items in a two-day sale.

Most of it comes with no safety net, with founder Zack Loffert calling it ‘99 percent no reserve – high bidder wins.’

The auction starts Friday, August 22, and continues through the weekend.

Two nights, hundreds of lots

Rodz and Bodz started as a prop-rental business back in 2017, before Loffert turned it into a museum in 2021.

Now, the Englewood building it calls home is being redeveloped into a hotel and apartments, forcing the collection out.

That means 463 items are going to the auction block

The sale is split into two parts: day one – Friday night – covers signs, gas pumps, and memorabilia. There will be more than 400 pieces in total on this day alone.

Day two – Saturday – is when the cars roll out, with over 60 vehicles plus more props and vintage items sold through Kraft Auctions.

Bidding will take place both in person and online.

The lineup leans hard into movie and TV nostalgia.

Screen-used machines include a 1974 Ford Gran Torino from the 2004 Starsky & Hutch remake, Chief Hopper’s Chevy Blazer from Stranger Things, the 2016 Ghostbusters hearse, the Rubble Racer from the 1994 Flintstones movie, and Dom Toretto’s Dodge from Fast & Furious 4 and 5.

Replicas add to the mix include a Jurassic Park Explorer, Dumb and Dumber’s ‘Mutt Cutts’ van, Jesse’s Jetta from the first Fast & Furious (signed by actor Chad Lindberg), and a period-correct ‘heist Civic.’

There’s also a Knight Rider ‘KITT’ clone, a Batman tribute car, the A-Team van, and a build modeled on the ‘Outlaw’ from Twisted Metal

Listings clearly mark which are screen-used and which are tributes.

Curtain call for this car museum

Not everything has four wheels.

Friday’s auction will see hundreds of signs, gas pumps, and memorabilia cross the stage.

According to the auctioneers, the vintage road signs in particular are probably where the best deals will be found.

For Loffert, the sale isn’t just an ending.

It’s a way to raise funds and start over with a new version of Rodz and Bodz in another location.

But while the collection he built is breaking apart, it won’t disappear – these pieces will continue to brighten homes and garages well into the future.

The museum may be closing, but the stories tied to its cars roll on.
