The Ferrari Mondial is probably the most underrated Ferrari ever.

It’s certainly one of the most unappreciated supercars in terms of market value.

To this day, this is one of the few Prancing Horse models you can buy for five figures.

And it’ll be interesting to see whether the vehicle you see here confirms the trend.

The next hidden gem?

The ‘problem’ with Ferrari auctions is that the baseline – the entry ticket to the Ferrari world, so to speak – is going up daily.

It’s the same dynamic that plays out every time.

Collectors start with the hot stuff – the F40s, F50s, the Enzos, and so on.

Soon, that becomes unattainable, so you go to the next obvious step, and that means looking at supercars that are considered – rightly or wrongly – second best.

But sooner or later, the value of those is also through the roof, which is when you start looking at other cars.

And that’s when you usually end up finding amazingly underrated gems.

The Mondial is definitely one of those gems.

The last 2+2 Ferrari with the engine in the middle

For no particular reason, the Ferrari 308 was the king of underrated Prancing Horses for a while.

But now that’s no longer the case, and people are turning to the Mondial.

The Ferrari Mondial actually replaced the 308 and, to this day, it remains the last 2+2 Ferrari that’s also mid-engined.

The vehicle you see here, a US-spec model, is a 1985 Cabriolet with 18,217 original miles and a clean title.

This supercar is painted in an unusual shade of metallic purple called Prugna, which is Italian for ‘plum’, one of only 30 US imports in this color, with cream leather for the interior and a matching fabric roof.

The 16-inch wheels have ‘1980s’ written all over them.

This vehicle is actually available with no reserve on SBX Cars, and the auction is set to go live on April 13, 2026.

It’ll be interesting to see the final number when the virtual gavel drops.
