The largest superyacht in the world is a massive 180-meter giant that’s the size of two soccer pitches.
It’s 60 meters longer than Jeff Bezos’ Koru.
Commissioned by the Abu Dhabi royal family, the yacht cost around $600 million to buy, but that number seems reasonable when you learn how much it actually costs to run.
And it’s also a great opportunity to debunk a hoax about a yacht that never existed.

The internet gave us a lot of things.
Free access to a virtually unlimited amount of information, convenience, and the ability to keep in touch with friends that live anywhere else in the world.
But it also gave us hoaxes – a long list of hoaxes.
One of the biggest hoaxes concerns a yacht that never existed, and likely never will.

Even today, if you google ‘largest/most expensive yachts in the world’, you’re probably going to find results that include History Supreme.
It’s a great name, but it’s a fake yacht.
History Supreme, a yacht that supposedly cost $4.8 billion, never existed.
But, like so many other internet hoaxes, it caught on and some people still believe it’s real.
And yet you’re more likely to find evidence that Bigfoot existed than History Supreme.
This is good news if you own Azzam, because it means you own the largest yacht in the world.
Azzam cost a fortune to buy, and even more to run
Azzam, which is the Arabic word for ‘resolute’, was initially commissioned by a member of the Al Nahyan (Abu Dhabi) royal family and it is still the largest privately owned yacht in the world.
She’s 180 meters (590 length) long, making it a whopping 60+ meters longer than Koru, Jeff Bezos’ yacht.
The world’s largest superyacht reportedly cost $605 million to buy, and it cost even more to maintain.

Broadly speaking, you’re looking at a weekly – yep, weekly – cost of $1.5 million.
Azzam’s fuel tank is big enough for about one million liters of fuel, so you’re looking at a $5-10 million tab just for that.
Dockage, insurance, crew salaries will cost you an extra eight figures, yearly, and maintenance will cost even more than that.
Then again if you’re a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, money is probably no object.

Azzam (Al Nahyan family) – 180 meters (591 feet)
Fulk Al Salamah (Sultan of Oman) – 164 meters (538 feet)
Eclipse (Roman Abramovich) – 162.5 meters (533 feet)
Dubai (Al Maktoum family) – 162 meters (513 feet)
Blue (Al Nahyan family) – 160 meters (525 feet)
