For those of you living under a rock, you may not know that the Bentley Bentayga SUV takes its name from…well, a rock formation.
The Roque Bentayga sits in Gran Canaria, and it is this formation that inspired the British manufacturer to give the SUV its name.
Now, a special edition is set to commemorate this fact, with Bentley launching a new version of the car with some notable custom features.
Exterior and interior modifications help it stand out from the crowd, and there are even a few little nods towards the famous rock formation.

How this Bentayga pays homage to Roque Betayga
The new SUV is called the Bentley Bentayga Artenara Edition, taking its name from the village of Artenara.
This sits at just under 4,000ft above sea level and is the highest settlement in Gran Canaria.
It sits near the Roque Bentayga rock formation, where the SUV takes its name.
You don’t have to look far for little nods to the famous formation in the SUV.

Inside, the stunning cabin features a Roque Bentayga motif.
This can be seen on the dashboard, seats, and door panels.
The motif itself is beautifully done and is a nice reminder of the Bentley’s name.

Other features include a new double-diamond Mulliner grille and 22-inch wheels with a grey finish, painted and polished.
Artenara Edition badges also help to enhance the appearance.
This is how Bentley made the SUV even more striking
Eight curated exterior finishes are available with this special edition Bentley Bentayga.
These are Beluga, Granite, Pale Brodgar, Glacier White, Sequin Blue, Dark Sapphire, Verdant, and Havana.
The brightware elements on the exterior are also finished in the body color.
Under the hood, the Artenara Edition has two different engine options available.
There is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 542hp and 568lb-ft of torque.
A plug-in hybrid is also available, with a 3.0-liter engine with a combined power output of 456hp and 516lb-ft of torque.

The standard version is available with both powertrains, with the extended wheelbase having the V8 only.
This is a neat way for Bentley to celebrate one of its most popular current models.
It is remarkable to think that such a humble rock formation gave a luxury SUV its name.
