Bentley’s S badge has just made a blazing return to the Continental range.

This revelation comes with the announcement of a new Continental GT S and GT Convertible S.

Expect Supersports-inspired handling, as well as the darkest look in the Continental range.

Both models also come with noticeable improvements and upgrades.

The S badge is back in the Continental line-up

Bentley has just made a major addition to its iconic Continental range.

And it is all because of the return of the brand’s S badge.

This pairs the standard car’s plug-in hybrid V8 setup with a noticeably sharper chassis character.

In terms of the Continental GT range, the V8 S has always occupied a sweet spot.

This is because it delivers a touch more attitude without stepping all the way up to Speed territory.

What is interesting, though, is how it fits in the new electrified range.

Because the new S keeps its same 671hp, 500kW hybrid powerplant as found in the regular GT and the Azure.

So what is the actual difference?

Bentley’s new addition comes with some changes

It turns out that it mainly lies in the hardware and tuning beneath the body.

The new S model borrows several components from the hardcore Supersport, as well as from the flagship Speed model.

Under the skin, you’ll find an electronically controlled, limited-slip differential on the rear axle and active anti-roll bars.

These borrowed components are coupled with existing dual-valve dampers and twin-chamber air suspension.

All of this is to say that Bentley’s new S has a much keener, more responsive feel.

Power comes from Bentley’s twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 powerplant.

This is fused with an electric motor that is directly integrated into the eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

A 25.9 kWh battery provides energy for the electric motor, resulting in around 50 miles of purely electric range.

Bentley itself promises a 0-60 time of just 3.5 seconds, as well as a top speed of 190mph.

In terms of looks, Bentley’s new S keeps things typically subtle and subdued.

Only discreet badging really sets it apart from the rest of the range.

As far as prices go, the new S is expected to sit somewhere around $320,000.
