Once you hear how much Beyoncé and Jay-Z tipped the crew on a $400m superyacht, it’ll have you considering a change in career.

The celebrity power couple were staying on the Flying Fox at a cost of $3.5 million a week.

When you’re dropping that kind of money, you’re obviously rolling in dough – which comes as a surprise to nobody when it comes to this couple.

But it was the exceptionally generous tip they lift for the superyacht’s crew that really got people talking.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé wrote the book on living the high life.

Few celebrities are so synonymous with luxury as Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

In fact, we’re convinced that if you looked up the word ‘opulence’ in the dictionary, a photo of the two would appear alongside it.

Lest we forget, this is the very singer who gifted her rapper husband a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport for his 41st birthday.

With one of three Rolls-Royce Boat Tails in the world in their possession, it’s clear that the two of them are passionate about their cars.

And it’s not just flashy cars that demonstrate this couple’s love of the finer things in life.

Jay-Z is quite the watch connoisseur, having picked up a Patek Philippe watch and a $340k Bugatti Tourbillon watch.

You get the picture – this is a couple that knows how to live it up.

But that doesn’t preclude them from being generous where it counts.

The crew of this $400 million superyacht were in for quite a bonus

Measuring out at 450 feet, this Lürssen-built superyacht is a spectacle in every sense of the word.

The Flying Fox has just about every amenity a seafaring celebrity could hope for, from a two-story spa, a deck-wide pool, 11 guest cabins, a jacuzzi, a beauty salon, and a movie theater.

Interestingly, there’s also a cryo-chamber onboard, which we have to admit isn’t something we’ve heard of with superyachts.

The Flying Fox is served by a staff of 54 crew members.

Back in 2021, the boat played host to Beyoncé’s 40th birthday celebrations.

We don’t know about you, but we can’t think of a better way to ring in a new decade of life.

As Queen Bey and her hubby departed the boat after the festivities, they reportedly left the crew an uber-generous tip of $630,000.

If we were to put that amount of money into car terms, that’s effectively the price of a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

That’s a payday any of us would happily look forward to.

Benjamin Maltby, a superyacht lawyer, said the practice of tipping staff was quite common within the industry.

“Tipping is normal where a superyacht is chartered out to guests, with tips typically run 10–20% of the base charter fee, with 15% being the most common standard,” Maltby told Supercar Blondie.

“It’s calculated on the charter fee only, not extras like fuel, docking, or provisioning.

“The crew work exceptionally hard to deliver the very best guest experiences, and the tip, while high compared to similar shore-based positions, is usually richly deserved.”
