The reaction to self-driving cabs, dubbed robotaxis, has been varied since they were introduced in US cities, including LA.
However, British passenger Sam Harper, owner of Qu Fitness, was delighted when he stepped into an all-electric Waymo Jaguar I-PACE last week with girlfriend, Holly Bryant, and shared his experience on Instagram.
The autonomous driving technology includes sensors, onboard computers, and sophisticated algorithms, but he was most impressed by the screen that displays the vehicle’s path and surrounding objects to passengers.
“You could see all the people walking. We even saw a guy picking up his dog’s poop and then put it in the trash can on the screen,” he said of the EV ride.
