A Bugatti Chiron Super Sport has sold for an eye-watering $5.7 million in Rhode Island.

The hypercar headlined an incredible spread of sales from Bonhams Cars.

As a matter of fact, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport was the white whale of the auction.

It single-handedly accounted for over half of the total sales revenue.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport dominates Rhode Island auction

Bonhams Cars is one of the world’s premier auction-hosting companies.

It often plays host to some of the most exclusive and beautiful cars and supercars on the planet.

The company recently hosted its Audrain Auction in Rhode Island on October 3rd.

It was held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame during Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week.

The overall auction saw extremely lively bidding, both in-person and online.

An overall sell-through rate of 85% across 47 lots marked an extremely successful event, and a 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ Coupe was the headline act.

And that is because it raked in a whopping $5.7 million at the auction.

To put that into context, the total auction ended up earning $10.3 million.

That means that the Chiron was single-handedly responsible for 55% of the overall spend.

Bugatti spearheads summer success for Bonhams

This Chiron Super Sport 300+ Coupe is just one of 30 examples ever built.

It represents the pinnacle and the final culmination of the Chiron project.

The Chiron also represents Bugatti’s final purely-gasoline powered hypercar.

This sale marked just the second public auction appearance of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ Coupe in the US.

The market for Bugatti hypercars appears to be as strong as ever across the globe.

And it appears to be particularly healthy in the US.

Managing Director of Bonhams Cars, Whitney Maxwell, noted that Bugatti sales have been very important to their auction successes this summer.

“Together, the Audrain and Quail auctions closed 2025 on a high note for Bonhams | Cars in the United States,” Maxwell said.

“With Bugatti sales leading both events, it was truly a ‘Bugatti season’ for Bonhams | Cars.”

It is incredible to see the scale of the success of Bugatti cars at auctions in 2025.

What will be even more intriguing to see is whether the market for these hypercars only continues to grow.
