Bugatti boss Mate Rimac has revealed that the average buyer spends a staggering €500,000 ($525,025) on customizations.
Choosing the model of your dream car is really only the beginning of the journey when you’re buying from a luxury marque such as Bugatti.
There’s a huge range of customizable features and optional extras that go a lot further than you might think.
You can even splash out on commissioning a complete one-off, assuming you’ve got the money, of course.

Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac revealed the average cost of customizations
As you’d expect from a prestigious brand such as Bugatti, making sure everything is absolutely perfect for the customer is of paramount importance.
In fact, Rimac has previously suggested Bugatti could introduce a wild unheard-of optional extra to keep customers happy.
But, of course, all that customization and personalization comes at a cost – and it seems it’s one that Bugatti buyers are more than happy to splash out on.
In an interview with Top Gear, Rimac revealed that the average buyer of one of the marque’s luxury vehicle parts with an additional $500,000 to customize it.
“We have special programs that we do with our customers, so the cars are becoming more and more customized,” he told the publication.
“Every car is actually really special. We are currently at half a million euros of customization per car.”
For a bit of context, that’s more than you’d pay for a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge, which you can pick up – as a basic model without any extras – from around $453,250.

While some folks may be flabbergasted by the price of customization, it seems there are plenty of people out there who are willing to pay to get the car of their dreams turned into a reality.
And for those who want something truly unique, Bugatti is ready and willing to go the extra mile.
“With some customers, we go another step and make something truly unique in this case where it’s just a one-off,” he added.

Rimac himself is a huge fan of customization – having taken delivery of his own hyper-personalized car $2.2 million Rimac Nevera earlier this year.
