Tesla Model 3 Performance has a new challenger
The landscape of drag racing really has shifted with the evolution of the EV.
Specifically, this has happened due to the dominance of Tesla.
The EV marque’s cars are a natural recipe for dominance on the drag strip.
Having instant acceleration and no torque lag makes the Tesla the drag weapon of choice.
But one person recently disagreed – and decided to challenge the new status quo.
The YouTube channel Wheels Plus has made a habit of capturing incredible quarter-mile duels.
And today’s battle is no different – only this time, a C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray R is the challenger.

This battle between the Corvette and the Tesla Model 3 Performance should be interesting.
For one thing, the refreshed Model 3 Performance boasts 510hp on tap.
It also has a sprint time of just 2.9s to 60mph.
On the other hand, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray R is much lighter.
It also features a mid-engine V8 setup that produces 495hp to boot.
One driver left feeling embarrassed – twice
So it’s heavier with more power and AWD, vs. lighter but less power and RWD
This duel between ICE-powered and EV is actually set to be a pair of duels.
The Corvette and the Model 3 Performance line up for the first sprint.
Despite a good start from both, the Tesla Model 3 instantly and effortlessly pulls away from the Corvette.
The RWD of the Corvette Stingray R is telling, as it struggles to get grip off the line.
By the end of the first run, the Tesla Model 3 Performance has dominated its rival.
The EV completes the quarter-mile in just 10.99s, compared to the 12s of the Corvette.
Credit to the Corvette owner, they don’t exactly know when they are beaten.
So the two cars line up at the start line for a rematch.
Unfortunately for Corvette fans everywhere, the result doesn’t change.
If anything, the result is more emphatic than the first time.
In fact, the Tesla Model 3 Performance was already off the line when the Corvette started moving.
By the end, the Tesla completed a time of 10.97s versus the 12.43s of the Corvette.
It appears that the dominance of the Tesla Model 3 Performance isn’t dying any time soon.
