Alongside his son, this father rebought his former 1960 Cadillac Series 62.

He had been forced to sell in his youth to pay for his house.

The rare triple-black Cadillac covered around five months of payment.

Now 20 years later he’s tracked it down – buckle up because this trip is about to get emotional.

Rebuying the 1960 Cadillac Series 62

Dad Doug DeBerti had been forced to see his 1960 Cadillac Series 62 convertible to cover five months of payment on his home.

“I didn’t want to sell it, but family comes first,” he explained in a video shared by his son, Brad DeBerti.

Doug had sold the Cadillac in the early 2000s but it was always something he regretted having to do.

When he reached out to the person who bought it from him, as fate would have it, they were planning to sell the car.

“He sold it to me for not much more than I sold it to him,” he said in the video.

The rare Cadillac

The rare 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible was one of just 14,000 convertibles that the brand made that year.

With a triple-black finish, the completely original car features black paint, a black top, and a black interior – and looks exactly like it did when it rolled off the production line.

In addition to being bone stock, being stored in a garage means this was no rotting barn find.

Per Doug, minus any rust and with the soft-top still working, it looks exactly the same as it did 20 years ago, bar a few splits on the interior’s upholstery.

If you want more of that, check out this abandoned Chevrolet and Cadillac dealership that’s like a time capsule.

He sold it with a mere 60,000 miles (96.6km) on the odometer, and it’s amassed a mere 8,000 miles (12.9km) in the 20 years since.

Everything is leak-free under the hood which left Doug cheering.

While Doug and Brad now plan to fix dings and add those all-important seatbelts – Doug will never let it go again.

Unlike this man who bought a Cadillac for $275 on Facebook Marketplace and flipped it again while holding on to a big secret.

A less cared-for American car from the era comes in the shape of this US barn find: a 1960 Cadillac Coupe DeVille that was neglected for 50 years before being successfully resurrected.
