The Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of America’s most popular Electric Vehicles (EVs).

It has proven to be a smash hit for Ford since it first went on sale back in December 2020.

Now, a California man is going viral for driving his Ford Mustang Mach-E over 250,000 miles.

And he’s proving that not all EVs have a short shelf life if looked after properly.

Mustang Mach-E has driven distance to the Moon

David Blenkle is the California man who’s Ford Mustang Mach-E is at the heart of this story.

Blenkle lives in Santa Clara, California – where he runs a small, private car service in the area.

The California native bought his Ford Mustang Mach-E three years ago, back in 2022.

And since then, Blenkle has covered over 250,000 miles in his EV – the same distance it would take to travel to the Moon.

Ford estimates that its batteries have a 10-year life span, and should preserve 90 percent of their battery after covering 100,000 miles.

Blenkle’s business required a vehicle that was reliable, comfortable and came with low running costs.

The California man also has a wide variety of clientele, from college students to armed forces veterans.

As a result, the Ford Mustang Mach-E proved to be the perfect vehicle to cover his needs.

Even the charging process (which Blenkle does at home) is simple.

“I have a Ford home charger, and I plug it in every evening, set to charge when my electricity rates are lower,” he said.

What is the secret to the EV’s lifespan?

So, what exactly is the secret behind such endurance and longevity?

As you might imagine, a good maintenance policy for the Ford Mustang Mach-E is important.

In David Blenkle’s case, good charging habits are key to the success.

The California man has a self-imposed charging limit of 90 percent for day-to-day use, which has greatly helped to preserve the battery.

Even today, this 250,000-mile Ford Mustang Mach-E still enjoys a range of 290 miles on full charge.

Of course, there are other aspects of Blenkle’s ownership that greatly contribute to the longevity.

A gentle driving style, as well as the use of regenerative braking greatly contributes to less wear-and-tear.

Blenkle even still uses the original brake pads from when he first bought his Ford Mustang Mach-E.

David Blenkle’s story is a genuinely interesting and fascinating one.

Because the California man’s story proves that, with the right care, an EV can last for a lifetime.
