These California YouTubers bought a wrecked 2005 Ford GT for their greatest rebuilding project yet.

YouTube channel Throtl took on this wrecked 2005 Ford GT and knew it would be an ambitious undertaking.

This car has sustained a lot of damage, so fixing it would be no easy feat.

But would this Ford GT be too much to take on?

The excitement around this undertaking was palpable.

“This is easily the biggest and most ambitious project we’ve taken on,” the host said.

“I am so excited.”

“That’s confidence-inspiring,” his friend remarked.

“[The car’s] pretty bad, it’s pretty messed up,” the host conceded.

Once the Throtl crew got a look at this car, the scale of the damage quickly became apparent.

There were missing corners, cracked panels, and exposed internals.

But it wasn’t all bad news – the seats remained intact.

However, the aluminum body panels were severely stretched and potentially beyond repair.

But there was no time to dwell on what was wrong – the team had been challenged to fully rebuild it and debut it at the 2025 SEMA show.

So that meant disassembling it bolt by bolt, while preserving some of the components that would otherwise be hard to find.

Some parts needed to be replaced outright, namely the cracked aluminum subframe and the rear clamshell.

But here’s the kicker – even by the video’s end, they weren’t done.

In fact, you could just say the team was just getting started on this restoration journey.

Rebuilding a car is no small feat

It may sound like stating the obvious, but rebuilding a car is a tall order.

Many of these cars go a long time without any maintenance, as was the case with this trio of classics.

But when a restoration is done right, it’s so satisfying.

Just take a look at Richard Petty’s Plymouth Superbird for proof of that.

Or how about the man who spent seven months bringing his dream Ferrari back to life?
