Decades‑old Mercedes, Corvette, and Camaro get their first wash and it is glorious

There’s nothing better than watching a decades‑old trio of a Mercedes, Corvette, and Camaro get their first wash, and it is glorious.

These beautiful examples of restorations combine nostalgia and craftsmanship by bringing these cars back to life after decades of neglect.

Each car is revived in a specific way to honor the finish and state of the car, with some restorations using vinegar and others using foam washes.

One thing is for sure, though, each of these cars has had years taken off them once they have been restored and are ready to rock and roll once more- honey, you’ve never looked better.

Restoring a decades‑old Mercedes 280 SL

This lovely red Mercedes 280 SL car has been sitting for almost four decades and was described before its restoration as one of the ‘dirtiest cars ever’.

It required layer-by-layer cleaning, and everything was restored, from the carpets to the engine bays; it required a total inside-out transformation.

It was restored with steam-cleaning, very heavy vacuuming, and a wild combination of specialized soaps and waxes.

This is a very rewarding watch, and the years just melt away, revealing true German excellence underneath the layers of dirt, rust, and grime.

A 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427 gets its first wash

This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427 had sat for 33 years, being neglected, and it had an alarming amount of mould inside and out.

The restoration was done using vinegar, steam, and special cleaning agents, and even the strongest mould was no match for these restorers.

After it was scrubbed, the steering wheel was a completely different color, and so the eight hours of cleaning proved that the hard work was paying off.

The car went from a mouldy wreck to a shiny, show-ready icon.

This post-restoration Camaro SS is glorious

We don’t know how long this Camaro SS was left neglected for, but it was in slightly better condition than the Corvette and the Mercedes were.

The blacked-out Camaro was dulled by dust and everyday grime in a different way than decades of neglect, so it required a thorough wax and polish rather than a vinegar scrub.

Now this muscle car has a glossy, modern finish, and it shows the toll that everyday life can take on our cars – maybe it’s time to give your daily driver a little bit of TLC?
