One car expert said the Cadillac Escalade EV ‘changes everything’ after he was blown away by the test drive.
EV expert Brooke Crothers took the luxury SUV out for a test drive and wrote up a rave review about it.
Most would think of the Cadillac Escalade as a status symbol, but in Crothers’ view, it’s an ‘outrageous movable electric feast’.
With an endorsement like that, you know it’s got to be good.

Why the Cadillac Escalade EV impressed this car expert on his test drive
Forbes contributor and car expert Brooke Crothers has written about a lot of his cars over his career, including the GMC Hummer EV and the Rivian R1T.
But the Cadillac Escalade EV well and truly blew him away.
Virtually every line of his review is stocked with praise, as he branded it a ‘gilded beast, tricked out with every luxury feature you could desire’.
Likening the car to a ‘luxury yacht on wheels’, it does make you wonder what this car is carrying inside of it.
A 55-inch curved LED display is fitted into the dashboard, providing pillar-to-pillar coverage.

That’s not forgetting the dual 12.6-inch displays in the backseats.
But there’s more to this car than its looks and luxuries.
Crothers described the Cadillac Escalade EV as ‘probably the smoothest ride I’ve ever experienced in a car’.
“When driving through the Mojave Desert, I set Super Cruise/adaptive cruise control to 70mph. But it felt like I was going 40,” he wrote.
“I’ve never experienced that before in a car.”
With a range of 450 miles, this car is a game changer in Crothers’ book.

And when it does need a charge, it does so quickly.
He also complimented the Super Cruise as a ‘middle ground’.
“GM leaves the local driving to you while offering true hands-free driving on the highway,” Crothers said.
“Once you’re on the highway, Super Cruise will handle steering, acceleration, braking, and lane changes.”
Did this reviewer have any issues with the car?
Were there any drawbacks to the car in Crothers’ mind?
He wasn’t too keen on the AutoSense Power Liftgate, saying that it ‘often doesn’t open no matter how long you stand there’.
There were also some elements of the Super Cruise that he was critical of, such as the trouble it has passing semi trucks.

But on the whole, there’s a lot more to love about this car than there is to find fault with.
It’s essentially an office on wheels thanks to its two-way intercom.
And some guys in Miami armored one up so it could withstand hand grenades, so there’s that.
