Ford has finally unveiled the 2024 Mustang, with the new model continuing to fly the muscle car flag.
As the Dodge Challenger and Charger prepare to bow out, the Mustang is entering its seventh generation and nearing its 60th year of production.
The Mustang continues to be offered in coupe and convertible body styles, and with both turbo four-cylinder and V8 power plants.
Externally, the 2024 Ford Mustang features sleeker styling with a low horizontal brow and chiseled angles.
It continues to draw influence from past Mustang models all the way back to the 1960s as well, so it looks modern but every bit a Mustang.
EcoBoost and GT models are also now differentiated with unique front bumper styling as well, the latter featuring larger grille openings.
But it’s inside where the greatest advancements are.
Ford claims the new cockpit was inspired by jet fighters, and the displays clearly mirror that.
Two big screens wrap around the driver, and they use the same Unreal Engine 3D software many video games use.

But while the screens can be configured to look like the dials in a jet fighter, they can also be configured to look like those in the ‘Fox body’ third-gen Mustang, complete with green backlighting.
Just about every drive mode setting can be individually configured through the screens as well – from steering to suspension.
2024 Ford Mustang GT is the most powerful yet
Of course, the Mustang is packing more muscle than ever with an uprated 5.0-liter V8 in the GT model.
Ford hasn’t said how much power it makes just yet, but claims it will be its most powerful naturally aspirated V8 model ever.
The 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost model also returns for 2024.
There’s also a ‘Remote Rev’ feature on the key fob so you can rev the car up for your friends without needing to hop inside it.
Both engines are being offered with either a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
The new manual gearbox offers automatic rev-matching in V8 models, and both models offer a range of advanced drive modes including Sport, Drag, and Track.
Knowing its customer base, Ford has also added a ‘drift brake’ to the new Mustang.
Developed with Formula Drift driver Vaughn Gittin Jr., it acts like a hydraulic handbrake to make drifting easier.
There’s also clever USB port placement on the car’s headliner for plugging in a dash cam to record track driving – again, drawn from customer feedback.
Plus, a track-ready Dark Horse model will also join the range later as well.
Great, when can I buy one?
The 2024 Ford Mustang will go on sale in the US in Summer 2023, so around mid-next year.
Pricing hasn’t been revealed just yet, with that and other key numbers to be announced closer to when it goes on sale.
