Bugatti has strapped its new Chiron Super Sport to the dyno, and it turns out the hypercar is even more powerful than we all thought.
It was so powerful it nearly broke the dyno (the machine used to test the power of cars).
Bugatti has already proven its latest hypercar has world-beating speed, clocking an insane 490.5km/h (304.8mph).
That makes the Chiron Super Sport the fastest production car in the world.
But the true power of the Chiron Super Sport wasn’t really known until now.
Bugatti strapped it to the most accurate dyno possible – one with individual rollers for each wheel.
The goal was for the hypercar to hit a certain number – 1600PS.
That is the equivalent of 1578hp or 1177kW.

It turns out the beastly machine is actually making 1618.6PS (1597hp; 1191kW).
As a sign of just how much power that is, it came close to breaking the dyno which was rated up to 1200kW – just 9kW more than it made.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport’s 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine also smashed its torque rating of a claimed 1600Nm (1180lb-ft).
It turns out that jumped even higher to a whopping 1665Nm (1228lb-ft).
That’s probably enough torque to alter Earth’s rotation.
Given these insane figures, a special harnessing system was needed to tie the car in place.
This meant bolting plates to the underside of the car with high-tensile strength bolts and using a bunch of chains and straps to secure it.
If all these big numbers have you wanting your own Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, unfortunately, you can’t have one.
That’s because all 30 – out of a total 500 Chirons – were sold before production even started.
Oh, and prices started from a cool $3.4 million.
