The new Porsche Cayenne Electric has just squared off with a 918 Spyder.

And it is part of a bold pre-reveal teaser from the German brand.

Porsche’s teaser comes amidst the announcement of a brand-new EV Cayenne.

Which means that it could only have been put up against the 918 Spyder for one reason.

Porsche teases Cayenne Electric

Porsche has just revealed a fascinating new EV offering.

Of course, the brand is no stranger to incredible, electric-powered machines.

The 918 Spyder, for example, is considered one of the ‘Holy Trinity’ of hybrid hypercars.

It has taken its place alongside the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari.

Then there’s the variety of other EV offerings, such as the Taycan and the Macan.

But what happens when an elite brand decides to compete against…itself?

It turns out that that is exactly what happened over the weekend.

Porsche released a fascinating teaser trailer.

“The 918 Spyder called. It wants to race,” the caption says.

This teaser trailer features F1 legend Mark Webber and Gabriela Jílková.

The two discuss a race between the 918 Spyder and the upcoming Cayenne Electric.

And this is where it gets extremely interesting.

How impressive could the EV SUV actually be?

Jílková drives for the premier German marque in the Formula E championship.

She claims that the Cayenne Electric will be able to destroy Webber’s 918 Spyder.

According to the Formula E driver, the SUV shape of the Cayenne Electric won’t slow it down.

So what does this potentially mean for the Porsche Cayenne Electric?

Does it point to the new SUV having more than the 887hp of the 918 Spyder?

Previous reports have suggested that the new SUV will have Active Ride, the hydraulic suspension system found on both the Taycan and Panamera.

Of course, this is all much more than just mere talk.

Earlier this year, the new Cayenne Electric smashed the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

It managed to do so by completing a time of just 31.28s.

These all point to very good signs of what might be to come.

But we are truly fascinated to see what comes next.
