A California man who bought the cheapest McLaren ever sold and added Temu parts to it took it on a 400-mile journey to see if it’d survive.

For YouTuber The Inja, it was a project two years in the making after he bought the car for $38,500.

With $131,000 spent on this rebuild, it was about time this 650S got taken out on the road.

But would a 400-mile trip be this McLaren’s undoing?

Since he finished the project, he’d been using it as a daily driver for couple of months.

“I guess I’m just happy the car hasn’t blown up on me yet, since I couldn’t afford to fix it again,” the Inja admitted to his viewers.

But now it was time for the ultimate test – a 400 mile journey to see if anything would break.

Originally, he’d wanted to do a two to three day getaway to really soak up the views of the California coast.

But due to external circumstances, he was going to have to cover that distance in a single day in order to make it to Monterey.

As he drove along the highway, he reflected on past issues that popped up – a steering wheel that would shake at 73mph being just one example.

The wheels would potentially need a full replacement further down the line.

But on the whole?

He was happy with how things were going on this drive.

Would this 650S make it to Monterey fully intact?

Fortunately for the Inja’s sanity and his bank balance, he made it to Monterey without any major hitches.

And even better than that, he got to take in a view of the Pacific as he brought his drive to a close.

It was a moment of triumph and catharsis – the rebuild was complete.

We love seeing rebuilds that have happy endings.

Another YouTuber who could relate to this feeling would be Chris Slix, who also restored a McLaren using Temu parts.

Not that there weren’t problems along the way, like an overheating issue.

Then there was the guy down in Florida who created an Audi R8 using parts from the same site, and it ended up looking ‘way too good’.
