The Tesla robotaxi service has finally been officially launched.
The EV giant has long been touting the possibility of unveiling a Robotaxi service for the American public.
It has now been launched, with the first rides starting in the city of Austin, Texas.
And CEO, Elon Musk, has revealed how much a Tesla Robotaxi trip now costs.

Tesla battles 2025 slump
For a while now, Tesla has been trying to work its way out of its poor start to 2025.
Aside from various controversies, America’s premier EV brand has suffered massively.
It has lost ground in Europe and the UK to Chinese rivals BYD.
Tesla appears to have been caught off guard in terms of the progress made by its rivals.

But it appears that the success of its EV rivals has finally spurred the American manufacturer into action.
Rumours, for example, continue to spread regarding the release of an affordable EV.
Whether this comes to fruition or not, as well as whether it’s a new model or not, remains to be seen.
What is finally beyond debate, however, is the unveiling of the Tesla Robotaxi service.
EV giant finally unveils Robotaxi service
Autonomous ride-sharing services have become enormously popular in the United States over the last few years.
In fact, such technology has grown at such a rate that it has almost overtaken the traditional taxi service entirely.
And Tesla clearly sees this market as the prime opportunity to fix its flailing fortunes of late.
According to the Financial Times, Tesla shares have risen by about 50% following the news of the Robotaxi service.
Investors appear confident that the new Tesla Robotaxi service will turn the company around.
Interestingly, the launch itself, which happened in Austin on Sunday, was unconventionally low-key.
Just a few Model Y vehicles took part in the launch, with a human on board to ensure safety.
The Robotaxi launch was also open to just a few social media influencers.
Now, though, the cost of taking a Robotaxi journey has officially been released.

Last night, CEO Elon Musk tweeted that customers will pay ‘a $4.20 flat fee’.
There is every chance that, as popularity grows, prices will rise and develop.
For now, though, the possibility of hailing transport at such a low price is a clever move.
If it truly catches on in the United States, then it could be the fix that the EV giant has been praying for.
