If you’ve ever wondered what it would cost to run a Tesla Cybertruck in the long term, wonder no more.

Because somebody has done the five-year math and worked out the actual costs.

What makes this even more staggering is that these estimates are on the conservative side.

Which means those costs could likely rise – by a lot.

Tesla Cybertruck comes with some brutal costs

Another day, another fascinating Tesla Cybertruck story.

But this one is quite different from any you have read before because somebody has broken down the true cost of owning one.

We’re not just talking about the purchasing price or the cost of charging.

We are talking about almost every single expense you can think of.

The Rev Nation YouTube channel decided to do a full rundown on the EV truck.

“Be prepared to be scared. So, why do I say that, folks?” the presenter began.

“Well, what we’re going to be going over today is the true cost of owning a Tesla Cybertruck.

“You are not going to believe this”, the host warned.

And it turns out that the warning is well-warranted.

Before we get into the numbers, there is something important to remember – the host noted that the numbers he has are conservative estimates.

So, brace yourself – because the numbers that are coming could be a lot higher.

First, the average purchase price for a Tesla Cybertruck is given as being roughly $116,706.

Then, there is a sales tax of around 7 percent, which works out at $8,169.

An $1,100 registration fee is followed by a five-year loan interest cost of $11,000.

Further major costs include the following:

  • Adjusted Insurance Costs for 5 years: $22,232
  • Out of Warranty Repair Cost: $6,371
  • 5 Years of Charging: $5,934
  • Tire Replacement: $4,800
  • Basic Accessories: $1,000
  • Subscription services such as FSD: $8,495
  • Home charging station: $1,700

Simply put, there are a lot of costs involved with owning a Tesla Cybertruck.

And these costs add up to a rough total of $188,000!

And the hits to your wallet keep on coming

But wait – there’s more.

The host continued his analysis into what happens when you sell your Tesla Cybertruck after five years of ownership.

“So, after you go to trade this in and you’ve got 75,000 miles on a five-year-old Cybertruck… you’ll probably get, at the very most, $35,000.”

“So, you have now spent a grand total of $153,309, and you will no longer have this vehicle.”

“If you do the math that was costing you $2,555.15 a month to have a Cybertruck.”

Ouch indeed.

The host concluded his analysis with a pretty damning verdict.

“Folks – that’s part of like what is just absolutely wrong with the society we live in today.”

“Would you spend that kind of money on a Cybertruck? I sure as heck wouldn’t,” the presenter concludes.

Of course, the Tesla Cybertruck is a divisive vehicle at the best of times.

But the cost of owning one is likely to make it even more off-putting to potential buyers.

We also know that EVs are generally subject to much harsher depreciation than ICE-powered cars.

It is fascinating to see if others would be deterred from owning a Tesla Cybertruck due to the costs.
