To travel the world in a dream truck sounded exciting enough, but buying that truck without ever seeing it first is another level of wild.

After all, this is usually the kind of decision most people would hesitate over for months, if not years.

Yet somehow, this couple went all in, trusting photos, messages, and a whole lot of faith.

And when the moment finally came to see the truck in person, the nerves were impossible to ignore.

The Toyota Hilux was their best option to travel the world

The journey began months earlier, while the couple behind YouTube channel TREAD the globe was exploring Malaysia.

After experiencing the rugged terrain of Borneo in a 4×4, they realized their current vehicle simply couldn’t take them everywhere they wanted to go.

Determined to push further off the beaten path, they decided a Toyota Hilux truck would be the perfect foundation for their next adventure.

Despite having limited mechanical knowledge, they carefully inspected a potential vehicle with the help of a trusted local mechanic.

Once satisfied, they took the plunge and purchased the truck.

From there, things moved quickly.

A local company agreed to convert it into a fully functional camper, and all the planning was done remotely through messages, calls, and shared photos.

This all seemed pretty normal, except this meant they never actually saw the finished build in person.

Their dream truck mostly met their expectations

By the time they returned to Malaysia, the truck, which was affectionately named Trevor, was nearly complete.

Excitement was mixed with anxiety as they finally headed to see it for the first time.

Would it meet expectations? Had everything been done correctly?

Their first glimpse brought relief.

The craftsmanship looked solid, and the design was impressive.

Inside, the compact space featured a kitchen, storage, a shower, and even a motorized pop-up roof.

However, it wasn’t without its challenges.

The bed setup, in particular, raised immediate concerns, requiring some creative problem-solving.

Still, the couple remained optimistic.

They were well aware that building a home on wheels would come with adjustments, and they were ready to adapt.

With only weeks before their next international shipment deadline, they faced a race against time to finalize modifications, register the vehicle, and test everything thoroughly.

And once their dream truck is finally complete, they’ll be ready to move on to their next chapter of adventure.
