Data has revealed that Tesla is the cheapest major car brand for 10-year upkeep.

Voronoi & Consumer Reports compiled the stats based on owner-reported data in a 2024 survey.

Several brands were ranked based on their costs, broken up between the first five years of ownership and the following five.

Some proved to be cheaper than others.

How much does Tesla cost for 10-year upkeep?

When it comes to buying a car, money is always going to be a factor in decision making.

Whether it be a Porsche, McLaren, or a Bugatti, people want to know how much their cars will cost them long term.

Ten years feels like a pretty decent timeline on which to measure costs, right?

Well, Voronoi compiled data from Consumer Reports to map out which brands cost the most to maintain and repair over a decade.

And the results were quite stark.

Tesla came out on top as the clear winner, costing only $5,050 over a 10-year period.

This shouldn’t come as too big a surprise.

After all, another study found that the Tesla Model 3 was the most affordable car to own in the United States.

Tesla’s top spot wasn’t the most decisive in the world, with only $150 separating it from the runner-up.

In second place was Lincoln at $5,200, and in joint third was Toyota and Buick with $5,300.

Hyundai, Nissan, Ford, Mazda, Chevrolet, and Honda also made appearances in the top 10.

According to Voronoi, electric vehicles have consistently come out as the most affordable.

This is because internal combustion engines have tons of parts that can break.

There’s also the matter of oil changes.

Is it any wonder a new study revealed that more US drivers were leaning towards electric cars?

The most expensive brands featured in the line up were Land Rover ($17,450), Porsche ($16,000), and Mercedes-Benz ($13,100).
