Delivery giant DHL has made new moves in the trucking sphere, and thanks to the Tesla electric semi, its fleet has expanded.
Meet the DHL Tesla electric semi truck, which exceeded expectations right from the get-go.
The huge hauler was tested in a two-week trial and impressed bosses with its single charge capabilities.
Now, though, DHL has secured the goods, and the first delivery has been made in North America.

The Tesla electric semi is taking the truck world by storm
Tesla is a brand known for its varied fleet of EVs with many different perks and uses, from the Cybertruck to the Model S.
Now, though, there’s a new kid on the block, and it may just be the manufacturer’s best offering yet.

The Tesla electric semi is bringing a whole new meaning to long-haul trucking ventures, and logistics giant DHL is one of the vehicle’s biggest fans.
According to the EV maker itself, the Tesla electric semi has an estimated range of 500 miles and can reach 0-60mph in 20 seconds, alongside having a 2kWh per mile energy consumption rate.
In light of the Tesla truck’s efficiency levels, the logistics brand decided to run a two-week test of the EV, and was simply amazed at the results of the trial.

The semi truck and interest from the logistics company were explained over on YouTube by creator The Electric Viking, who claimed that there was even range left over.
Here’s what DHL really thought of the electric semi
According to DHL, a two-week trial initially took place in October of 2024, where DHL Supply Chain USA used the truck to undertake 3,000 miles of operations in California.
During the trial, there was one long haul 390-mile journey that carried a gross combined weight load of 75,000lbs.
“Our pilot of the Tesla Semi exceeded expectations, proving its ability to efficiently haul a typical DHL freight over long distances on a single charge,” said DHL Supply Chain North America Transportation President Jim Monkmeyer.
Fast forward to December 2025, and DHL has seemingly sealed the deal and has now taken delivery of the first-ever Tesla electric semi, which the company says is a huge step in its net-zero-by-2050 mission.
It was even explained that the Tesla only needs to be charged once a week, making it extremely efficient.
There are other brands making the leap, too, but for now, all eyes are on DHL and its EV-powered delivery methods covering North American territory.
