An American YouTuber took on the challenge of fixing his Range Rover himself after a dealership quoted him over $6,000 to repair the SUV.
YouTuber Samcrac, who loves to salvage cars and fix them up, wasn’t impressed by the figure the dealership quoted so decided against spending the money.
The issue was traced to the fuel injectors.
An initial smokey startup of the car revealed just how serious the issue was.

The dealer wanted $6,200 to fix the Range Rover
The Land Rover dealership gave Samcrac a quote of $6,200 to fix the injectors on his troubled car.
Putting that into context, the YouTuber said you could buy a reasonably used Range Rover for that price.
Or you could buy six very well-used Range Rover Sports for a similar figure.
Samcrac has a troubled history with Range Rovers.
The YouTuber has tried to get one on a budget several times but has experienced issues each time.
The YouTuber actually took the injectors out of this SUV following a tip from a viewer.
They said to remove the fuel rail and whatever was attached to the injectors.
Then, you pull the fuel pump fuse but leave the spark plugs in.
Next, you crank the engine, and let the compression assist in removing them.
To get around the high repair bill, Samcrac decided to buy some genuine injectors online, saying: ‘From FCP Euro, they are around $100 apiece’.
The added bonus is that they come with a lifetime guarantee. Something the dealership won’t provide.
Samcrac walks through the replacement of the Range Rover’s injectors
With the injectors sourced, Samcrac walked through the replacement of the injectors and revealed the final results.
The replacement went smoothly for the YouTuber, but it took a couple of attempts to fire the SUV back up again.
After the first fire, a horrible amount of smoke came out of the Range Rover, yet the car idled better than it did before.
With a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the tank, Samcrac took the Range Rover for a spin and then began driving it on a daily basis.

The smoke cleared up, and the car now ran much better than before.
Samcrac is also big fan of Range Rovers, summing it up by saying: “If you took a random person, stuck them in the back seat blindfolded and did the same thing in a brand new Rolls-Royce Cullinan, they wouldn’t be able to tell you which one rode better.”
This repair is proof you don’t always need to go to a dealership to salvage a faulty Range Rover.
