World's most powerful SUV drag race
Supercar Blondie

A 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Dodge Charger Hellcat drag raced against a high-performance BMW M8 in Las Vegas with some unexpected results.

So what does the high-performance import GT have to do with fully-fledged muscle cars?

Usually, you will never see these cars come up in the same conversation.

That is until you see them at the ‘local’ quarter-mile dragstrip.

Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat vs BMW M8

The drag race took place at the famous four-lane ‘The Strip’ in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Known as the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the dragstrip was established in 1972 and has seen some iconic races.

We have also seen a Suzuki Hayabusa drag race a Tesla Model S Plaid at ‘The Strip’ in a thrilling match for the ages.

And this time, we have another unusual pair-up with a German high-performance car vs two American muscle Hellcats.

For context, the high-performance version of the BMW 8 Series German luxury grand tourer, the BMW M8 starts at around $140k to $150k.

Meanwhile, a 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat were around $70 to $80k when they were available.

The cars are quite different and on the opposite spectrum of the automotive industry.

On one hand, we have a blue F92 BMW M8 two-door grand tourer coupe powered by a 4.4-liter S63 twin-turbo V8 engine generating 591HP.

On the other hand, we have a couple of Mopar siblings representing America: a white Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a white and blue-striped Dodge Charger Hellcat.

This is just like the time when a nine-second Dodge Charger Hellcat drag-raced a Tesla Plaid.

Surprising result

Although the M8 is quite outclassed by the muscle cars having 617HP at the minimum.

Their horsepower can also go up to 707HP or higher if they are the Redeye or Super Stock models.

However, as it turns out, the BMW M8 destroys both American muscle cars in their respective races.

You can watch the full race on the Wheels YouTube channel, and many others like it.
