Porsche is the latest challenger to the Tesla Model S Plaid’s drag strip crown.

America’s premier EV marque has slain some massive names in the quarter-mile arena.

Now it’s the turn of Porsche to try and take the Tesla title.

And, after a one-on-one drag race, a king has been crowned.

YouTuber uses Porsche Taycan to take on Tesla

A recent video of an EV face-off has been going viral all over the internet.

In said video, YouTube channel DragTimes was at Bradenton Motorsports Park, Florida.

And they arrived at the Park with two very special cars.

In one corner, was the Tesla Model S Plaid – the reigning drag strip king.

The other corner happened to be occupied by the quickest Porsche ever made.

Allow us to introduce the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach.

This is a stripped-down, hardcore version of the all-electric Taycan.

And it carries some seriously impressive numbers to back itself up.

For one thing, it will do 0-60 seconds in just 2.2 seconds – yes, seriously.

It will also produce a peak figure of 1,034HP during 10-second bursts.

You can thank the addition of “Attack Mode” for that incredible number.

Is this the perfect car to de-throne Tesla?

There was palpable tension as the two cars lined up on the starting line.

Jimmy, driving the Tesla, actually jumped the red light on his side of the grid.

Brooks Weisblat, driving the Taycan, span the tyres twice during initial launch.

The Tesla was actually first over the line, but gets disqualified for jumping the lights.

As the guys line up for round two, Brooks decided to lay down some rubber to get better grip.

And it appears to work, too. Because the Porsche absolutely annihilates the Tesla.

In fact, Brooks managed to get the Taycan to accelerate from 0-60 in just 1.9 seconds.

He also completed the quarter-mile drag race in 9 seconds dead; 0.2 seconds ahead of the Plaid.

The third and final round is a combination of the first two races.

The Tesla jumps the lights – again – but the Taycan still smashes it – again.

This Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach has definitely earned the crown of quarter-mile king.
