This YouTuber found an abandoned 1979 Chevy C10 in the Minnesota woods on a farm with some other abandoned vehicles.

The car had been sat for 30 years, completely abandoned and exposed to the elements, so the fact that he even took a chance on it said a lot about how interesting the Chevy was.

The truck’s original old broken 350 Oldsmobile engine was in serious need of replacing and could only get back to the YouTuber’s shop once they had dragged it there using a skid loader.

They managed to source the part needed for one simple fix in the woods, and that changed everything for the Chevy’s roadworthiness.

How do you bring an abandoned 1979 Chevy C10 found in the woods back to life?

This YouTuber and his team found an abandoned 1979 Chevy C10 in the Minnesota woods on an old farm that is practically a junkyard for classics.

It had been sat in one place for 30 years, completely exposed to the wind, rain and sometimes snow while it gently rusted away.

This YouTuber and his ambitious team decided that they were going to not only rescue the Chevy, but also revive it, and in order to do it, they needed to get it back to their shop to get a good look at it using a skid loader.

Once the Junkyard Digs team got the truck back to their shop, they could see what they could do for the old broken 350 Oldsmobile engine they found under the hood.

One simple fix was all they needed

The team knew that there was an issue from the original Oldsmobile engine, so they looked for a donor engine amongst the other vehicles in the farm/ car junkyard.

They found a 455 big block Oldsmobile engine in a rusty 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 that was missing a dipstick and plug wires, but seemed usable.

One they get the new engine in after changing the manifolds and adjusting the motor mounts, the truck overheats due to an undersized radiator and failed thermostat.

Once they replaced the thermostat and gave it a good clean, it was off to the races for this born-again Chevy doomed to a life of rusting in the woods.

It completed 450 miles without a title, making it one of the all-time greats in terms of car comebacks.
