Elon Musk founded SpaceX and built his Starship rockets to send people to the moon, Mars, and potentially even beyond.

And now he believes flying beyond our solar system might be possible.

The main goal for SpaceX in the very beginning was to lower the cost of space travel.

One of the biggest hurdles when it came to space travel in the past was that nearly everything NASA and other space agencies built was single-use.

Imagine spending tens of billions of dollars, if not hundreds, to build a rocket that gets destroyed after its first use.

And this, we shouldn’t forget, is what often used to happen whether the launch was successful or not.

SpaceX rockets such as the new Starship are designed to be used more than once.

They’re still mighty expensive – for example, Starship cost at least $5 billion to build, but they can be reused.

Sometimes it works brilliantly, and sometimes it doesn’t, but in the long run, this will dramatically lower the cost.

And that, in turn, will mean that space agencies will be able to run more tests, more often.

And that, in turn, will mean that space agencies will be able to run more tests, more often.

Now that the so-called ‘space race’ is back on track, we’re exploring the moon again, Mars and even the outskirts of the Milky Way.

And now, taking to his social media platform X, Elon Musk is saying that future versions of SpaceX Starship will perhaps be able to travel even beyond our solar system.

“This Starship is designed to traverse our entire solar system and beyond to the cloud of objects surrounding us. A future Starship, much larger and more advanced, will travel to other star systems,” Musk wrote on X.

It’s an ambitious goal, and maybe not a goal that can realistically be reached in our lifetime – although you never can tell.

On thing is for certain, it still sounds exciting.
