In an epic all-tuned-up drag race, a Mansory Rolls-Royce Cullinan went bumper to bumper with Brabus Mercedes G63 AMG went the distance to make a quarter-mile thriller.

Drag races don’t always have to be between staple supercars from marques like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.

Sometimes seeing some absolute units tear down the quarter-mile track can be quite a spectacle, too.

So watching two massive SUVs – a tuned duo of Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes G63 AMG – hurtling down the drag strip was just as encapsulating as you might imagine.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes G63 AMG: The Match-Up

SUV drag races can look more like Shaquille O’Neal and The Undertaker doing a 100m – this junkyard supertruck race took that quite literally.

But the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes G63 are no joke.

While they might appear to be your standard police protection vehicles, tuning kits from Mansory and Brabus have made these people carriers into racecars.

They were both lightning-quick.

In a drag race for all SUVs to study, the two lined up against each other for a dead-start quarter mile, and the winner nabbed it by a length.

It was the Rolls that, well, rolled off the starting line the quickest, but with so much timber in its kit, it struggled at higher speeds and the Merc soon passed it to take the win.

Both cars also went off in a rolling start race, which continued to pile on the misery for the Rolls-Royce, whose much heavier and luxurious kit shifted through the gears much slower than the Merc.

Neither car was the drag race SUV king

YouTube hosts CarExpert didn’t stop with the Mercedes G63 taking to the finish line first though.

Instead, this heavyweight bout was only about to get more interesting with more competitors.

The YouTube team then rolled out a Lamborghini Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 (one of only 40 in the world) and the ‘Korean missile’ Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Things got quite ugly for the Merc here, as the Lambo first tore down the strip leaving it in the distance.

Then, the Hyundai ripped the Lambo a new back bumper, completely obliterating all of the SUVs to claim the title.

While the four SUVs couldn’t all run together, timed runs put things into perspective:

  • Rolls-Royce Cullinan (Mansory) – 13.29 seconds
  • Mercedes G63 (Brabus) – 12.59 seconds
  • Lamborghini Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 – 12.43 seconds
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – 11:32 seconds.

The Hyundai was just shy of two seconds quicker than the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, although style points should be added for this The-Penguin-colored violescent hue.

Neither car stormed through to set a time under ten seconds – unlike the ‘battle of McLaren’ – but it was a thrilling watch to see such huge vehicles let loose in the wild.
