2025 EV range champions revealed with BMW breaking the 500-mile barrier as Tesla and Mercedes edge closer

In the EV world, range is the number everyone scrolls for first.
And this year, more electric cars are officially reaching or approaching the 500-mile mark.
Electrifying’s list looks completely different to last year, with several new models pushing long-distance driving much further.
Here are the longest-range electric cars on sale right now, and you’ll never guess who came out on top.

9. Peugeot E-3008 Long Range – 434 miles
The Peugeot opens the list with an official worldwide harmonised light vehicle test procedure (WLTP) range of 434 miles.
It’s also the most affordable model in this list, offering long-distance capability at a lower entry price than its rivals.
With that figure, it sets the baseline for this year’s 400-plus-mile contenders.

8. Volvo ES90 Twin Motor – 435 miles
The Volvo ES90 steps in next with an official WLTP range of 435 miles.
Its saloon-meets-hatchback shape gives it a unique presence, and the cabin is unmistakably premium.
Air suspension helps manage the 102kWh battery over long distances, while 350kW charging keeps stop times short.
It’s a refined, long-range EV built for comfortable miles.

7. MG IM5 Long Range – 441 miles
The MG IM5 follows with a range of 441 miles.
Designed by IM – MG’s premium sister brand – it brings sharper styling and a more upmarket feel.
Its 4.9-second acceleration and ultra-fast 396kW charging make it well-suited to covering long distances with short stops.

6. Audi A6 Sportback e-tron – 464 miles
The Audi A6 e-tron joins the list with a range of 464 miles.
It’s sleek, composed, and quick to cover distance, with the Sportback layout blending practicality and executive style.
A 270kW charging peak helps keep road trips moving smoothly.
It’s a confident long-range option with a familiar Audi feel.

5. DS No. 8 Long Range – 466 miles
With a range of 466 miles, the DS No. 8 leans into comfort and design, offering a distinctive interior and a relaxed, refined drive.
A 160kW charging rate supports its long-distance capability, with a cabin built for easy hours behind the wheel.
It stands out as a smooth, style-led entry in the long-range group.

4. Tesla Model 3 – 466 miles
The Tesla Model 3 also posts a range of 466 miles.
Its 75kWh battery is the smallest on this list, but Tesla’s efficiency and Supercharger network keep it competitive on real trips.
The simplified cabin and interface remain familiar to Tesla drivers, and it’s well-suited to long stretches of motorway.
Strong range, light footprint, and simple charging access make it a versatile choice.

3. Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ EQ Technology – 483 miles
The CLA 250+ follows with a WLTP range of 483 miles.
It brings efficiency learnings from the Vision EQXX concept into a production car, delivering impressive distance from an 85kWh pack.
Peak 320kW charging keeps downtime short on compatible 800V chargers.
It’s a streamlined, efficient entry with the interior quality expected from Mercedes.

2. Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ – 485 miles
The EQS 450+ reaches the upper end of the list with a range of 485 miles.
A large 118kWh battery supports its long-distance capability, paired with the brand’s signature high-tech interior experience.
A 200kW charging peak manages the pack efficiently across extended journeys.
It’s a luxury EV designed for covering serious mileage in comfort.

1. BMW iX3 50 xDrive – 500 miles
Topping the list is the BMW iX3 with an official WLTP range of 500 miles.
Its new-generation battery chemistry boosts efficiency, while 400kW charging delivers quick top-ups on the right hardware.
Neue Klasse design elements give it a clean, modern look, and the long-range capability sets a new benchmark for this segment.

The pace of improvement over the last year makes it clear how quickly these numbers can change.
