The very first all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre is officially here.

Rolls-Royce launched its highly-anticipated Spectre today, which we can confidently say will be the most luxurious EV in the world.

The launch marks the beginning of Rolls-Royce’s transition to an all-electric brand by 2030.

Rolls-Royce says the Spectre is the creation of an entirely new class of motor car; the ultra-luxury electric super coupe.

CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös has even described the Spectre as “the most perfect product that Rolls-Royce has ever produced”.

“This is the start of a bold new chapter for our marque, our extraordinary clients, and the luxury industry,” he said.

He’s clearly got high expectations for the brand’s first-ever EV.

Design

The Spectre wears the iconic long hood, sloping roofline and even the traditional Rolls-Royce grille at the front.

In fact, the Spectre’s split headlight treatment is intersected by the widest grille ever given to a Rolls.

The grille also has subtle backlights, with 22 LEDs placed on the rear side of each vane.

As for the doors, they measure almost one and a half meters, making them the largest coach doors ever seen on a Rolls.

Following the roofline back, the tail lamps are set into a large single-body panel, which extends from the A-pillar to the luggage compartment.

The Spectre has also been given massive 23-inch wheels.

In fact, it’s the first production two-door coupé to be equipped with 23-inch wheels in almost 100 years.

Interior

Inside, the Spectre has an all-new front seat design with bespoke stitching, embroidery and intricate piping.

And to match the roof, the Spectre will have Starlight Doors.

The doors alone will feature almost 5000 stars.

The palatial cabin will also be totally customizable, with personalized upholstery, wood inlays and paintwork.

Power

The Spectre will make 577 horsepower.

It will go from 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds and have a top speed limited to 249km/h (155mph).

It will have an estimated EPA driving range of 520 kilometers (320 miles).

Before today’s launch, the BMW-owned marque revealed the Spectre had a drag coefficient of just 0.25, making it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever.

Rolls Royce has also given the Spectre a new suspension system.

This is because the Spectre, like all Rolls-Royce models, has been designed to float on the road, absorbing and cancelling all bumps.

Spirit of Ecstacy

Emblematic of the new electric era, the Spectre has a redesigned Spirit of Ecstasy adorning the bonnet.

With one leg forward, she has been reshaped for “a more realistic look”

“These stylistic changes make her more aerodynamic,” Rolls-Royce says.

The new Spirit of Ecstasy will also appear on all future models.

Name

Rolls-Royce says it has always sought names that are “ethereal and otherworldly”.

The marque says names like Ghost, Phantom, Wraith, Shadow and Spirit have only added to the brand’s “untouchable, almost unattainable rarity”.

The carmaker says the name Spectre “encapsulates this atmosphere to perfection”.

Spectre is described as “a silent, menacing creation” which is also “powerful and edgy, but in profile, smooth, sleek and elegant”.

Delivery

So when can the one-percenters expect to receive it?

Customer deliveries are set to start in late 2023.

Rolls-Royce says the Spectre fulfills a 120-year-old prophecy from the brand’s co-founder.

“The electric car is perfectly noiseless and clean. There is no smell or vibration. They should become very useful when fixed charging stations can be arranged,” Charles Rolls famously said in 1900.
