Everyone thought that this Ferrari 512 TR was fake – but then they had to eat their words.

The supercar model was spotted in Italy and confused gearheads online.

Although it was wearing the classic badge, other elements of the body were modified.

However, after a little research, the doubters were silenced.

It’s no secret that Ferrari is one of the most popular car brands in the world.

Supercar enthusiasts all over the globe dream of owning one of its fleet, with its models all offering sleek, speedy motoring.

In fact, recently, the world’s first Novitec-tuned Ferrari SF90 XX was revealed and labeled as stunning.

Celebrities have gotten in on the action, too, such as Max Verstappen testing a GT3, alongside soccer star Erling Haaland, who purchased a $420,000 model.

Sometimes, though, cars aren’t quite what they seem, which one auto-enthusiast recently found out.

Taking to Reddit, one user, italian_rowsdower, spotted a model that had a very unique look.

Although the car had the classic red exterior, other features didn’t match. They were convinced it was a fake.

The wheels had been sprayed black, a far cry from the usual silver look most 512 models sport, plus the car was a cocktail of colors, with a black roof and red body.

Other confusing features included a huge supposed Koenig wing that sat near the trunk, plus door skins.

“[Ferrari 512 TR] going grocery shopping in northern Italy (1 of 2261),” the user who spotted the car quipped.

But the discovery seemed to confuse auto enthusiasts online, with people thinking it was fake.

“512 TR is one of my favorite cars. This looks like garbage,” commented an unimpressed person.

“I like the two-tone, but that’s about it. The side grills are iconic. Would’ve liked it more with them on,” explained another car fan.

“You can’t convince me that isn’t a Fiero,” said another.

But, after people researched the registration online, the modified car wasn’t fake, and truly was a Ferrari, albeit an unusual one.

The Ferrari 512 TR is one of the brand’s most loved models, and it’s clear to see why with its classic, slick look and powerful V12 engine.

As the Ferrari website explains:

“The 512 TR was the evolution of the Testarossa and production started in 1991. The interior was redesigned to increase comfort and ergonomics and the exterior facelift was designed to improve aerodynamics.”
