A fake Lamborghini Diablo formed from a Pontiac Fiero has cropped up on Facebook Marketplace, and it might have more charm than an actual Lamborghini supercar.

The custom auto is a Fiero in disguise, with the bodywork slapped over the stretched chassis of the Pontiac.

Thanks to the bodywork, the sports car is transformed and from a distance, it is quite a convincing-looking replica.

That doesn’t hide the fact that under the hood, the Fiero has nowhere near enough horsepower to justify wearing a Lamborghini body.

The new Lamborghini bodywork drastically alters the Fiero

The new bodywork consists of a fiberglass kit, placed on top of the original sports car chassis.

The person who built the car also stretched the Fiero’s chassis slightly in order to accommodate the new bodywork.

“I have a Lamborgini Diablo kit car for sale…..car runs drives stops and everything functions as it should both doors go up and down,” the Facebook Marketplace listing reads.

The listing also says the car has a ‘custom interior new exhaust, car was built on a fiero frame that was stretched v6 motor 5peed trans.’

There is no denying how impressive the body itself is.

Styled like a Diablo, from certain angles, it’s very convincing and impressive.

And thanks to its design, you would expect it to have big power to match the bold new look.

The Pontiac Diablo still has a small engine under the hood

Unfortunately for whoever buys the kit car, you aren’t going to find a V10 or V12 under the hood.

As standard, this Fiero comes with an L44 2.8-liter V6 that makes just 140HP and 170LB-FT of torque.

With so little horsepower, the Fiero doesn’t deserve to wear a Diablo body no matter how good it looks.

A real Diablo by contrast produces 485HP and 428LB-FT of torque from its massive V12 engine.

If the new owner wants to extract that level of power from this kit car, there are ways to do that, though.

General Motors did make a 303HP transverse front-wheel drive LT4 V8 that fits nicely under the hood of the Pontiac.

Add a supercharger to it, and that engine could produce 550HP. Much more fitting for a car with a Lamborghini design.
