Photographer exposed the Sultan of Brunei’s 28 most secret cars that are guarded by armed personnel and were never meant to be seen

The Sultan of Brunei famously owns over 7,000 cars, most of which are supercars or one-off vehicles created especially for him.

Reports vary, but most sources agree his collection is worth at least $5 billion.

Now, you’d expect all 7,000 cars to be in pristine condition, but that’s not the case.

Going off leaked images, some of the vehicles are dusty – but some have other problems as well.

These leaked images paint a picture that probably doesn’t match our imagination

We all imagined all 7,000 cars would be parked in a shiny, city-size garage near his palace, and we figured all 7,000 would be in great shape.

After all, we can safely assume that the Sultan has thousands of people that work for him full time.

Unfortunately, the scenario these pictures depict is slightly different.

A few years ago, someone leaked images of some of the cars online and, well, they didn’t look that great.

While many of these cars were undoubtedly spotless, we spotted so many that were covered in inches of dust and, in some cases, rust.

They definitely look like they haven’t been driven – or washed – in months.

Or maybe even years.

Sultan of Brunei’s 28 most secret cars

In 2001, a photographer revealed a selection of some of the most valuable cars owned by the Sultan.

This became known as the exclusive ‘Black Room’ section of the royal garage.

Bentley Spotting reports that of those 28 cars uncovered, 19 were Bentleys, five were Ferrari, three were Aston Martins and there was also a McLaren F1.

Almost all of them were said to be built for the Sultan, too.

The reason why so many cars the Sultan of Brunei owns are not in great shape

The Sultan has one of the largest collections of cars in the world because he’s been collecting them for years.

So many of his cars were built specifically for him, and often bought in bulk.

We’re not talking about buying five or six at a time – more like 50 or 60 at a time.

In fact, he has the largest collection of Rolls-Royces in the world.

When you fill up your garage (his palace apparently has 110 of them) with so many vehicles, it’s easy to lose track of what you have, and it’s also easy to neglect these cars.

Pity.
