A family-of-four from the US lives in this neat, tiny home that allows them to be completely off-grid and offers surprisingly spacious accommodation.
The tiny house movement kicked off in the late 1990s and today more and more people are giving it a go.
As well as being cheaper to buy than a regular property, they have cheaper running costs, especially if you’re able to live off-grid.
This is the case for Macy who lives in a 29-foot tiny home on wheels with her family.

The tiny home is surprisingly spacious inside
Tiny homes can come in many forms, from DIY versions, like this one made from old street trash, to purpose built designs that you can buy on Amazon.
More than a decade ago, Macy went down the DIY route, setting herself a budget of just $12,000.

In a video on the Tiny Home Tours YouTube channel, she explained that she kept her costs low by using salvaged materials and shopping around.
Then in 2019, she bought a six-acre plot of land for $58,000, where she and her family now live in their tiny home.
The property itself offers surprisingly roomy accommodation with a large living room, a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and two bedrooms at either of the house – there’s even a deck outside.
The living room takes up about half of the property and has plenty of seating, including a sofa and ottomans, a decent-sized media wall, and a folding table that can be used as a dining table or a desk.
The kitchen has plenty of worktop space and storage, as well as a stove, range hood, microwave, and a full-sized fridge.
The tiny home’s bathroom comes complete with a large shower, a sink, toilet and more storage space thanks to some handy shelves.

The sleeping areas are at either side of the property to give the family at bit of privacy.
The kids room has been fitted out with bunk beds, while the parents’ room is accessed by a small set of stairs and contains a queen-sized bed.
The family has lived off-grid for years
The family has been able to live off-grid for the last five years, using solar panels to generate electricity and a rainwater collection system.
Macy says the family’s expenses for the year, including insurance, taxes, and refuse collection, amount to less than $2,000.
Not bad, right?
