If you’ve been to see Fast X, you’ll know just how good Jason Mamoa’s performance is.
His portrayal of Dante, Dom Toretto’s newest archenemy, is a breath of fresh air for the franchise.
But many viewers have likened his performance to that of another legendary villain.

Without spoiling it for you, in case you haven’t seen Fast X yet, Mamoa plays Dante Reyes, son of Hernan Reyes, the baddie in Fast Five, ed.
He comes across as an eccentric psychopath, with a penchant for painted nails, colorful clothes and explosives.
Who does that remind you of?
Well, according to several Twitter users, they think Jason Mamoa’s character was inspired by the Joker.
“Definitely gave me Joker vibes,” one user wrote.
“This is the best description I’ve seen of his performance,” wrote another.
“Great comparison… Jason Mamoa steals the movie the same way,” said another user.
With his nails already painted, it appears the only thing Mamoa is missing is a painted face.
But while many on Twitter are likening his character to the Joker, some think his character is reminiscent of Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, too.
“Bro Jason Mamoa killed it on Fast X. A villain blend of Heath Ledger’s Joker and Jack Sparrow,” one user wrote.
“Jack Sparrow + Joker infusion. Wow… couldn’t have said it bettah [SIC],” wrote another.
Although Fast X was marketed as the first of two movies that would conclude the franchise, Vin Diesel said in an interview that it’s actually part of a trilogy.
Either way, Universal Pictures will likely try everything they can to bring back fan-favorite Jason Mamoa.
Fast and Furious, like other high-profile movie franchises, has a habit of turning baddies into allies.
This happened with Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) and, as shown in Fast X, with Dom’s brother Jakob Toretto – played by John Cena.
We don’t know whether it’s going to happen with Dante but the good news is – or bad news depending on your point of view – we’ll have at least two more movies to find out.
