Dante in Fast X

The new Fast X trailer has dropped and there’s a lot to unpack.

A fitting conclusion to the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast X will see Vin Diesel team up with friends and ex-foes to face Dante – his toughest opponent yet.

We definitely need to start with Dante, the new baddie portrayed by Jason Momoa.

Dante is out for revenge and plans to “break” Dom’s family.

CHEK THIS OUT!

The new character makes a stunning entrance in true Fast and Furious style.

In the trailer, we see him riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle as he blows up a car by throwing an explosive device under the vehicle.

As he rides away from the explosion, he casually says “boom”.

We don’t know much about Momoa’s character yet but there’s a dead giveaway in the trailer.

Through repetead flashbacks, it is hinted that his revenge has to do with what happened in Fast Five (2011).

Fast Five

It’s been over 10 years since Fast Five so let’s do a quick recap.

In the movie, Dom and his crew steal more than $100 million from a Brazilian big-time crime lord as federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) fails to apprehend them.

Based on what we see in the trailer, it’d make sense to assume that Dante is actually the son of said crime lord.

Fast X will feature every character we know from the franchise with the exception of Luke Hobbs.

In addition to his crew, Dom will seek help from a long list of enemies-turned-allies from Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to his brother Jakob Toretto (John Cena).

Meanwhile, Dante will try and stop Dom with the help of Cipher (Charlize Theron), the criminal mastermind we were introduced to in the 2017 movie The Fate of the Furious.

Meadow Walker, daughter of the late actor Paul Walker, will also make an appearance in the film.

When is Fast X coming out?

Directed by Louis Leterrier on a budget of $340 million, Fast X is scheduled to be released in the US on May 19, 2023.

Fast X is also the first chapter of the two-part finale to the franchise.

The eleventh and final movie of the saga is scheduled for 2024.

We can always expect a lot of noise when a new Fast film drops, and this one is no exception.

Fans of the series took to Twitter to share their impression after the first trailer.

A user named The Diesel System ironically pointed out that we’re once again introduced to a super important character… we’ve never heard of.

Another user commented on Dante’s unusual wardrobe choices.

She wrote: “In this one shot, Jason Momoa is wearing nail polish, a bead necklace, a shark tooth necklace, an old lady chain, a skull ring and sunglasses at night”.

Another user drew similarities with the Dragon Ball saga.

“The Fast Saga is like Dragon Ball Z, Dom becomes friends with the villains he beats, Dom’s power level in every chapter goes up ridiculously,” he wrote.

Well, he’s not wrong, is he?
