Modena masterclass: Maserati origin story
The brand you know as Maserati was originally founded by Alfieri Maserati on December 1, 1914.
The company would produce its first car – the Tipo 26 – in 1926.
Ever since, the the marque has enjoyed an incredibly rich history.
Maserati was one of the first European brands to prove their worth in the United States.
In addition, driven by Wilbur Shaw, the Maserati 8CTF won the Indy 500 in 1939 and 1940.
Over the years, the Maserati has seen some legendary figures drive its cars.

In fact, the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio won the 1957 F1 World Championship driving the 250F.
Even racing royalty Sir Stirling Moss once referred to the Maserati 250F as, ‘the best front-engined F1 car’ he drove.
Ranking Modena’s fastest supercars
Thanks to this legendary lineage, the company has continued to produce some incredible supercars.
Thankfully, though, the Modena-based manufacturer is not a brand that sits on lineage alone.
Here are the fastest supercars that Maserati has ever built, based on their top speed.
GranTurismo Trofeo – 199MPH
The first generation GranTurismo was retired out in 2019.
The second generation of the car was re-released in 2024, in both electric and ICE – Internal Combustion Engine – options.
The highest spec ICE option is the GranTurismo Trofeo.
The Trofeo comes with a V6 engine that produces 542HP.
All of that adds up to a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds, as well as a top speed of 199mph.
Making the Trofeo more than just a pretty-looking car, for sure.
GranTurismo Folgore – 202MPH
The GranTurismo Folgore is a truly phenomenal car.
For those who don’t know, “Folgore” is Italian for “lightning.”
Yes, the company named their electric range after lightning – how cool is that?

The Folgore is powered by not one, not two, but three electric motors.
Those motors combine to produce 760HP.
They also produce a 0-60 time of just 2.7 seconds.
All of that Italian magic combines to produce a top speed of around 202mph.
Maserati MC20 – 202MPH
You didn’t seriously think this would be a Maserati list without the MC20, did you?
Modena’s flagship supercar is the spiritual successor the legendary MC12.
And it carries performance numbers worthy of the lineage it represents.
The specially tuned V6 engine produces 621HP, one more than the MC12.

That translates into a frighteningly quick 0-60 time of just 2.9 seconds.
Oh, and it doesn’t stop there – the MC20 will top out at around 202MPH.
Che spettacolo!
That’s What a Show for those of us who don’t speak Italian.
Maserati MC12 – 205mph
The MC12 is one of the greatest cars the company ever produced.
In fact, it remains one of the greatest supercars ever produced by any company.
Built during Ferrari’s ownership of the brand, the resemblance between the MC12 and the Ferrari Enzo is clear.
The performance is very closely related between the two, as well.

The legendary MC12 was powered by a V12 engine that produced 620HP.
Various tests have the supercar’s 0-60 time as being different.
However, the official, accepted time is 3.8 seconds.
What isn’t various or disputed is the top speed – a stunning 205mph.
So there you have it!
That is the official list of the fastest supercars Maserati has ever produced.
And we’d own them all if we could!
