When this man’s son reunited him with the Lamborghini that had been lost for 55 years, there was one detail of the car that helped him recognize it.
John Temerian, the founder of Curated, managed to get his hands on his dad’s Lamborghini Miura.
The family’s links to the Miura go back to John’s days in high school.
And now, he’s gotten hold of the 1971 car again – and his dad recognized it right off the bat.

How this man tracked down a Lamborghini Miura after it went missing for 55 years
From an early age, John’s dad was involved in the world of cars, rebuilding engines at age 13 and driving a Lamborghini Miura to school at age 16.
His first Miura, worth between $4,000 and $5,000, was bought on condition that John’s dad would be a straight-A student and work in his father’s shop for free.
He kept up his end of the bargain, before going on to sell that Miura for another Miura.

The only problem with that one is that it didn’t run.
But this is the guy who was fixing engines at the age of 13 remember, so he got it up and running in no time.
He sold that one, and brought another Miura. Yeah, he liked the car that much.
This third Miura was pretty exceptional though – the red over black interior was unlike any other.
But in the 1970s, it ended up being sold and seemingly disappearing into the void.

Nobody knew where it’d gone until 2022.
Somebody had reached out to John via social media, asking for a job at his company.
It’s a good thing that John gave this guy a chance, as he was a skilled car-finder – and tracked down the ultra-rare 1971 Miura within 60 days.
How had this card held up over the years?
Unfortunately, this car wasn’t looking as pristine as one would have hoped.
Sitting in a California garage for years on end will do that to a car, but fortunately, it retained many of the original features that made it a stand-out.
To verify this car was the one that his dad used to own, he checked the registry – only one Miura S in the US had been finished with a red-black interior.

But what feature was it that tipped John’s dad off to know this was his car?
Believe it or not, it wasn’t the stunning interior.
“There was this very odd lock on the side of the hood, and you put a key in it and lock it,” John explained.
John’s dad spotted it on a walk-around of the car and pointed it out.

He explained that this was an alarm that came with the car – confirming this was his all along.
“What a surreal moment,” John said.
We love seeing a car reunion story, no matter how long the car has been apart from its original.
For one 82-year-old, it was his stolen Rolls-Royce that he reconnected with.
Or how about this 1973 Plymouth Barracuda that had been sold for medical bills?
