The $320,000 convertible Ferrari 296 GTS is finally here and it's a thing of beauty

This is the new Ferrari 296 GTS and it will make your jaw drop.

It is the first convertible Ferrari to be fitted with a V6 turbo – and the brand’s first hybrid RWD Spider.

Top speed with just electric power is 135 km/h (84 mph), but when you engage that combo of electric and petrol it will slam you back in your seat.

The 830hp Ferrari will hit a 0-60 time of just 2.9 seconds, 0-124 of 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

The design of the Ferrari 296 GTS

It’s the latest mid-engined Ferrari Berlinetta and, more to the point, the open-top version of the 296 GTB.

It’s designed so you can drive it from Maranello to the SPA, and then on to Spa-Francorchamps.

It is fitted with a new type of hardtop that Ferrari calls the RHT.

It can be deployed in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 35 mph.

It looks like a regular folding roof that splits into two sections, but it is lighter than traditional hard tops and even soft tops, and also more aerodynamically efficient.

And that’s not the end of the good news because Ferrari also fitted a frameless window so you can admire the V6.

The driver-focused cabin features Ferrari’s iconic steering wheel, from which you can adjust most settings including of course the ‘Manettino’ for ‘Wet, Sport, Race’ or, if you’re in the mood, to shut everything off.

In addition to that, there’s a head-up display and two digital displays: the instrument cluster right in front of the driver can be used for anything from climate control to the sat-nav, and then there’s another screen for the passenger.

And the price? $322,986.
