LA shop makes 'Final Boss' custom Mercedes by combining an old 1971 Mercedes 600 with a 2024 Mercedes AMG S63 E Performance

The Mercedes 600 was already one of the most imposing luxury cars of its era, but one LA shop has combined it with a Mercedes AMG S63 E Performance, giving it a seriously unexpected modern makeover.

S-Klub LA has taken a 1971 Mercedes 600 Grosser and combined its classic body with the platform, powertrain and technology from a 2024 Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance.

The result has been given the appropriately dramatic name ‘Final Boss’.

It really does look like the final character you have to fight in a video game.

It combines two very different Mercedes eras

The 1971 Mercedes 600 Grosser car is responsible for most of the Final Boss’s instantly recognizable shape.

But underneath, things are very different.

S-Klub LA says the Final Boss uses the complete hybrid platform from a Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance, including its all-wheel-drive system.

The shop lists the finished car at 1,000 horsepower, turning what once looked like a classic chauffeur-driven limousine into something considerably more serious.

Rather than simply dropping a modern engine into the old Mercedes, S-Klub LA effectively created a completely modern car underneath the vintage body.

The result is a restomod that retains the presence of the original 600 while gaining the performance and technology of a modern AMG S-Class.

The body has been heavily reworked

Getting the two cars to work together obviously wasn’t as simple as bolting one onto the other.

S-Klub LA created a handcrafted widebody for the Final Boss, giving the classic Mercedes much wider proportions to accommodate the modern AMG hardware underneath.

The shop has also fitted a carbon-fiber roof and custom Mercedes Digital Light headlights, blending modern lighting technology into the unmistakably old-school front end.

Even the grille has been given a technological upgrade, with LiDAR equipment incorporated into the design.

From the outside, you can still immediately tell that this started life as a Mercedes 600, but the wider stance and modern details make it look like something completely different.

It has a modern AMG interior, too

The biggest surprise might be what happens when you open the doors.

Instead of restoring the interior to look like a 1970s limousine, S-Klub LA kept the modern AMG S 63 interior and its technology; it even has screens on the back of the seats.

That means this isn’t just a classic-looking car with a modern engine hidden underneath.

The modern technology from the brand is integrated throughout the vehicle, creating a rather unusual combination of old-school luxury and new-school performance.

S-Klub LA is currently offering the Final Boss for sale, although the asking price isn’t listed publicly.

Considering the amount of work that has gone into combining a 1971 600 with a 2024 AMG S 63 E Performance, this definitely isn’t your average restomod.

It’s essentially two very different beasts from the same brand being turned into something you’d fight at the end of a video game.
