These Florida guys turned a Tesla into a drift machine, and the first test drive went extremely well.
When you think of Teslas, you don’t exactly think of drifting cars.
But thanks to the work of YouTube channel Drift HQ, that could be set to change as they took on such a transformation as a project.
With the help of some BC coilovers and an LSD, they turned this stock car into a ‘full-on drift machine’.

Taking a Tesla and turning it into a drift machine
If there’s one thing that gets petrol heads excited, it’s a car that can drift.
And drift machines can come in all shapes and sizes, from a Telo MT1 minitruck to a Ferrari Daytona SP3.
Even a Lightning McQueen car can put in a mean shift on the tarmac.

So why not a Tesla?
Admittedly, drifting isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the brand’s name.
You’d be forgiven for thinking of the self-driving Robotaxis, or perhaps the brand’s rivalry with BYD.
And going off the initial attempt by Florida YouTube channel Drift HQ to get this stock car to drift, you’d be safe in assuming this wasn’t an endeavor worth pursuing.
“This thing sucks!” one of the hosts declared, after a bit of attempted drifting.

“It doesn’t do the thing we wanted it to do, but the AC is cold.”
That’s always a plus in our books.
It was time to get to work – some BC coilovers were added and a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) was inserted.
That’s in addition to a dual caliper handbrake setup, all added to make the EV drift.

How the end result drove
Let’s just say, it was like night and day when things got taken out onto the concrete.
The car screeched, it spun, and it threw up a whole lot of smoke in its wake.

On the whole, the team were really happy with how things turned out.
“Once you get used to it, it really drives itself,” one of the hosts concluded.
