Florida man buys brand new Tesla Cybertruck and explains why it's the first vehicle he's ever been truly excited to own in 20 years of being in auto industry

When this Florida man bought a Tesla Cybertruck, he was left with one bold conclusion – it was the first vehicle he’d ever been excited to own.

David Maus Jr. secured a brand-new Cybertruck within a 17-day window, so he didn’t have to wait long to enjoy his purchase.

Having spent 20 yeas working in the automotive industry, Maus is well acquainted with how things work.

So you can imagine what a big deal it was for him to say this was the first vehicle he’d ever been excited to own – but what had made him say that?

In the UK, there’s a dark, sticky food spread called Marmite.

It’s got a potent and salty flavor, which means it’s extremely divisive among people – you either love it or you hate it.

We bring this up not because we’re big buffs on British cuisine, but to make the point that the Tesla Cybertruck is much like Marmite in this sense.

Wherever you look on the internet, people have opinions on it.

You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who has no strong feelings on this electric truck.

In the critic corner, you have people like this Rhode Island mechanic who branded the Cybertruck as ‘cyber-disaster’.

But even among those partial to the truck’s sharp edged charms, there’s an awareness that their choice of daily driver is divisive.

One Canadian woman was convinced she’d found a way to win over the most ardent of critics.

For a man down in Utah, he wanted to figure why so many people seemed to dislike the truck, so he decided to conduct some tests to find an answer.

All of this to say that everyone and their mom has given their two cents on the Cybertruck.

Now another voice joins the chorus.

This man didn’t hold back when talking about the Cybertruck

YouTuber David Maus Jr., host of DMJR Auto, has two decades of experience within the automotive industry.

Having such a long track record of working with cars, it becomes all the more apparent why this endorsement is such a big deal.

“I’ve actually never been excited about a car. I worked in the car business for 20 years, and I had access to literally every vehicle,” he told his viewers.

“I never got excited about a car, but today I’m picking up a Cybertruck.”

He admitted that he hated the Cybertruck when it first came out.

But once he drove it, he decided to order one – and it arrived within 17 days.

Now that it’d arrived, he took his viewers through the truck’s good points.

In particular, he pointed towards the comfortable seating, studio-quality acoustics, and build quality as the Cybertruck’s strong suits.

But there was one drawback – the stainless steel exterior.

“I do like the stainless steel look, but as you can see, literally from the dealership to here […] you could see literally every little splat and splatter,” he noted.

“So, I am going to wrap it.”

At least he’s figured out a solution.

When asked what changed his mind about the Cybertruck, he gave more of an insight into his journey with the truck.

“I never really cared much for the EV part of Tesla, but recently with the FSD updates and how well it actually works… everything changed. And the story actually starts about 3 months ago,” he told Supercar Blondie.

“Me and my wife swore off Tesla for years. Had zero interest in ever looking at one, let alone buying one. But we have a teenage daughter who is about to be driving and I heard they have the best safety ratings and parental controls. Plus keeping her from those urgent late night gas station stops. 

“So we were in the international mall in Tampa Florida one day, walked by the Tesla store, and I said we should go see how the safety stuff for kids actually works. 

“The people were friendly and helpful, didn’t ask for our personal info or anything. Just answered every question and concern. That opened me up. Long story short a few weeks later, we ordered our first Tesla, a Model Y, that we could drive and really test out and eventually give to our daughter as her first car.

“The ability to toggle between her driving and then having FSD takeover in any event just made sense. 

“After that I made my first YouTube video about hating Tesla, and now owning one. And a friend who had a Cybertruck offered to let me borrow it to film. That is when I fell in love. 

“Having the size and utility of a truck, which I’ve always drove and loved trucks, plus the maneuverability and FSD capabilities was just too good.

“So I sold my GMC Sierra and ordered the Cybertruck. And genuinely, I’ve drove any and all cars my whole life. Mostly trucks and SUVs, and I can absolutely say that the Cybertruck is my all time favorite. 

“The best all around car I’ve ever owned.”
