A YouTuber from Florida bought Amazon’s cheapest pocket bike and turbocharged it, and you might be surprised by how much extra speed he got out of it.

The DIYer paid just $250 to get his hands on the teeny tiny pocket bike.

But wanted to find out what would happen if he gave it a boost, so he also bought Amazon’s smallest turbo.

The result? A completely unique turbo-boosted, pint-sized bike that cost him under $1,000 all in.

The cheapest pocket bike had plenty of room for improvement when it came to speed

There are plenty of folks out there who aren’t afraid to go a little off-piste when it comes to vehicle modifications, like the man who built this omnidirectional bike that moves on spheres or the guy who gave his truck 38,000hp by installing 17 turbos

Or the folks behind the @Bummotorsport YouTube channel, who are ‘dedicated to making the most insufferable machines on the internet’.

One of their recent inventions was Amazon’s cheapest pocket bike, given a hefty boost thanks to a cheap-as-you-like turbocharger.

The $250 bike came as a kit, and was without an engine, but that was quickly remedied with a $110 196cc diesel engine they found on Amazon.

With the engine fitted, the bike managed a top speed of just 6mph, but that wasn’t going to cut it for the YouTubers.

So, they turned to, yes – you’ve guessed it, Amazon, this time buying a $129.99 turbocharger.

All in all, they spent just $916.99, but how did it all turn out?

So, how did the turbocharger perform on the bike?

Given that the bike, the engine, and the turbocharger were all as cheap as chips, you’d be forgiven for not exactly expecting miracles.

In fact, the YouTubers behind the unique bike also had their doubts.

They eventually decided that if they could get the bike to a top speed of around 20mph, that would represent a 300 percent increase in speed, and they would hail the project a grand success.

But when it came down to it, the turbocharger added an even bigger boost than expected.

The pocket bike eventually hit a top speed of  24.4mph, around 400 percent more than the stock standard engine.

Sure, it’s not about to break any land-speed records, but it shows that you don’t need to spend big to get a decent return.
