Making your vehicular life much easier to manage, Ford has now refreshed its mobile app and handed the controls to your cabin over to your fingertips.

As the technological era of cars continues to evolve, Ford has wasted no time in 2025 in outlining its direction and is beginning to get the tires moving.

Particularly, the new EV and PHEV ranges are getting increasing support.

Now, on the precipice of a major technological movement, the company has made some major improvements to the mobile app.

Ford mobile app gets new cabin control features and more

With new cars on the way, including a brand-new EV truck in 2027 that has fans purring as loud as its motors, Ford has taken an in-depth look at how its mobile app works and given drivers more power at their fingertips.

Much like how other competitors operate, such as Tesla, the mobile app – now renamed to just the brand, rather than FordPass – is giving you the controls from your phone.

The new update rolls out ‘Remote Climate Control’, where passengers can heat up the cabin without fiddling in the driver’s eyeline, and an ‘Upgraded Energy Tab’ that gives better insights into your car’s battery life.

Better lock screen controls, smart watch integration, family and friends authentication, and dark mode have all been added too.

The company cited three main areas of feedback that have now been addressed.

Ford said: “We heard app users wanted: a design that felt modern and innovative; clearer, more precise climate controls; Fewer steps to get to vehicle health information.”

A new dawn beckoning for Ford?

Ford CEO Jim Farley has spent most of the year being ‘humbled’ by Chinese EVs.

So much so that the brand has had to take a significant look in the mirror and decide how it wants to use its tech moving forward.

And it seems that a big investment into an in-house car software is being considered, as Apple CarPlay has reached its limitations.

This new app might just be the first step towards Ford drivers having full control over their cars with entirely built-in apps.

Or, it might just be a well-needed refresh.
