The Ford GT and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 are two of America’s best high-performance cars and drag race icons.
For decades, each car has represented each brand’s finest performance machinery.
Now, both cars have faced off against each other in a head-to-head drag race.
And the margins of victory are incredibly close in this contest.

When it was unveiled in 2017, the second-generation Ford GT turned more than a few heads.
In fact, it stunned the supercar world entirely – both with it’s refined looks and its performance.
Powered by a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, the GT comes with 650bhp.
It also comes with an incredible top speed of 216mph and a 0-60 time of just three seconds.
In case you haven’t worked it out yet, the Ford GT is a serious piece of machinery.

But can it outperform a domestic rival on the quarter-mile drag strip?
That domestic rival just so happens to be the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
The Corvette Z06 has already proven its pedigree, specifically when it destroyed a Maserati MC20 Cielo.
Now, though, the Corvette is taking on a different type of challenge in facing the Ford GT.
Carwow Drags is a YouTube channel that pits some of the best cars in the world against each other.
And recently, it managed to pit the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 against the Ford GT.
Straight into the race, and both cars suffer a little bit of a difficult start off the line.
The Corvette gets a much better jump in the acceleration and starts pulling ahead.
However, the GT slowly (but steadily) starts to reel the Corvette in.
By the time the chequered flag drops, the GT has just pipped the Corvette by a nose length.
The second race conducted is a 1/2 mile drag race with a rolling start from 50mph.
The Corvette gets an excellent jump and absolutely steams ahead.
By contrast, the Ford GT almost doesn’t appear to respond at all.
In this race, the Corvette canters to the line in victory.
This rolling start is repeated several times, with the Corvette and Ford being extremely competitive.
The final tally is officially scored as two wins for Ford, one win for the Corvette.
But given the gulf in price, it was a much closer competition than you might have expected.
