This man bought a Ford Mustang convertible that was damaged in a Florida storm, but it turned out to be a disastrous purchase in the end.

He bought it thinking he could fix it and give it to his son, but little did he know it would be one of the toughest Mustang projects ever.

The convertible looked drastically different from how it was shown in the photos — well, sort of.

After its delivery, most of the car’s body was held together by duct tape.

Flooded Ford Mustang Convertible almost totaled

YouTuber Randy Shear from the Auto Auction Rebuilds channel bought this Mustang Convertible and shared his story in a video.

Had he checked the car’s history before making the final call, he might have avoided quite a lot of trouble.

For starters, it had clocked over 100,000 miles on the odometer.

Add in the flood damage and a price tag of $5,500 plus taxes, and it was a bit of a lemon.

This ‘Stang is not the first vehicle to be badly affected by the recent hurricanes in Florida, either.

Only recently, two YouTubers visited an auction lot full of thousands of flood-affected cars.

Meanwhile, some got lucky because they took precautions, like this man who covered his Corvette in bubble wrap.

The hurricane damage hiding in plain sight

When the flooded Mustang arrived on his driveway, he saw that it was covered in duct tape to keep the parts in place.

Although most parts stayed in place without the tape, they were cracked and loosened.

Inside, he saw the interior covered in a wrap, hiding the extent of the damage.

Not only was the interior in pretty bad shape, but the electronics also suffered greatly.

For one, the instrument cluster showed a whopping 28 error codes.

Unlike these Cybertrucks that fared well against the hurricanes, this was a total nightmare for the YouTuber.

However, with a semi-working six-speed automatic, the 312 horsepower 2.3 EcoBoost engine still cranked just fine.

Regardless of everything, he still had hope and said that he would attempt fixing the Ford Mustang Convertible.

Godspeed, because this will likely be a mountain of a project.
