A group of teenagers in Australia have been arrested after a stolen 2016 Ford Mustang became stuck on a bus-only track, closing the line for several hours.

Police in Adelaide, South Australia, said the red Mustang was stolen at around 6am on April 2.

The vehicle was then spotted almost 150km (93 miles) away later that same day.

Cops used a helicopter to follow the stolen vehicle – and that’s when things went from bad to worse for the bungling thieves.

Sadly, car theft is all too common, but on occasion, we do get to see folks reunited with their beloved vehicles  – like this man who refused to give up searching for his stolen 1967 Mustang, or this family who got their beloved 1973 Chevy Corvette back thanks to an online tipster

However, in the case of this stolen Mustang in Australia, it was actually the suspects who led to the car being recovered.

The 2016 Mustang was stolen from outside its owner’s house at around 6am on April 2.

It was later seen miles away from where it had been taken and South Australia Police set up cordons and used a police helicopter to try and track it down.

It was eventually spotted outside a property and police quickly moved in.

Three of the teenage suspects were arrested as they attempted to flee the property, and another was detained after being discovered hiding inside in the roof space of the house.

The suspects got the stolen vehicle stuck on the track

Another two suspects managed to get out of the house and into the stolen car, which they used to attempt to make a quick getaway.

However, after driving onto the O-Bahn bus-only track, the Mustang got completely stuck and the two suspects ran from the car but were quickly caught by police.

They have since been charged with illegal use and could be facing additional charges.

The Mustang remained stuck on track for ‘several hours’ before a crane was brought in to lift the car out of the way.

Police say they are still looking for two other stolen vehicles – a grey 2018 Nissan Qashqai and a black 2010 Toyota Landcruiser.
